Since almost the beginning of time, abortion has been something that is considered very taboo in our society. Many people do not like to discuss it or share their views on it to spare the feelings or judgement of others. However, it is a very important topic that deserves to have more light shed on it as well as have more supporters be open and outspoken about it. Abortion can be a tough topic for many to talk about due to their own personal experiences or life choices. However what is not so difficult is to simply make others aware that it is a pressing issue around them. In the 1950’s hospitals began to administer â€Å"therapeutic abortions† which were only done if and when the mother’s life was in danger. Finally, in 1958, a record of a Planned Parenthood conference was released to the public and conversation of abortion rights was sparked across the nation. During the 1960’s a woman by the name of Pat Maginnis became the first person to publicly speak out about legalizing abortion. Throughout the 1960’s more people began to voice their opinions on women’s rights and abortion laws.
